Newly released Marathi movie ‘Baapjanma’ witnessed moderate occupancy in the cinema halls on opening day. The comedy drama film, which features legendary superstar Sachin Khedekar, Pushkraj Chirputkar, Sharvari Lohkare and famous actor Akarsh Khurana in leading roles, received decent response from the audiences on first day.
In morning shows, the public response was quite normal for the film. As it was a working day for most of the citizens in the Marathi speaking state, the movie didn’t receive expected amount of response from the movie-watchers. However, the overall occupancy suddenly grew in evening and night shows.
Directed by popular filmmaker Nipun Dharmadhikari, the latest Marathi film faced box office clash with adjacently released Marathi movies ‘Ghuma’ and ‘Zindagi Virat’. Releasing on limited number of screens, both films gained decent response from the film-watchers in various parts of Maharashtra. the movie faced decent occupancy in the cinema halls across major cities in the state.
Apart from the competition with Marathi films, ‘Baapjanma’ also witnessed box office clash with latest Bollywood movie ‘Judwaa 2’. The multi-starrer Hindi movie raked in a whopping income of Rs 15.55 crore on opening day and became the fourth highest opener film of this year. On day 1, David Dhawan’s directorial venture showcased excellent performance on Indian box office.
