Releasing on limited number of screens in Maharashtra, newly released Marathi movie ‘Baapjanma’ raked in a poor box office collection in first weekend. However, Nipun Dharmadhikari’s directorial venture witnessed gradual increment in the number of audiences on Saturday and Sunday. The comedy drama celluloid showcased growth in its performance on weekend days.
Featuring Pushkraj Chirputkar, Sachin Khedekar, Akarsh Khurana and Sharvari Lohkare in prominent roles, the Marathi language offering found the holiday due to Hindu festival Dussehra helpful in receiving a good response in the cinema halls. Dussehra was celebrated in India on 30th September 2017.
On Saturday, the film witnessed steady public response. The theatre occupancy grew in the morning shows on Sunday. Response from the audiences declined gradually in noon and evening shows as a major chunk of the spectators preferred to watch India vs Australia 5th ODI, which was played on Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground in Nagpur on 1st October this year.
In initial three days, the Marathi celluloid collected satisfactory earnings on Indian box office. Receiving mixed reviews from critics, the multi-starrer Marathi movie didn’t perform well in the overseas and gained dull response in the foreign countries. Facing a huge box office competition in domestic as well as international arena, the comedy cinema failed to earn a huge monetary profit in first weekend.
