Tamil movie ‘Kalavaadiya Pozhuthugal’ witnesses low occupancy in second week

Released on 28th December 2017, latest Tamil movie ‘Kalavaadiya Pozhuthugal’ witnessed low occupancy in 2nd week. Featuring renowned south Indian choreographer Prabhu Deva in leading role, the Tamil language film received poor response from the audiences in 14 days and amassed a total collection of Rs 1.7 crore at Indian box office.

The romantic comedy film, which also starred ‘Tere Naam’ actress Bhumika Chawla in prominent role, commenced its box office journey on a decent note. Witnessing 10-15% occupancy on first day of release, the film showcased decent performance at Andhra Box Office.

Failing to attract a huge audience in the cinema halls, the movie faced steady occupancy throughout the opening day. In noon and evening shows, the film did not see any surge in the public response and ended up bagging Rs 0.40 crore total box office collection on day 1.

Taking a decent start to the box office journey, the Tamil language movie experienced massive box office competition in the south Indian states. As newly released Kannada and Telugu films acquired strong hold in the theatres and multiplexes present in the southern part of India, the Tamil movie could not manage to divulge major chunk of audience.

On Saturday, the film witnessed phenomenal growth in the public response and successfully managed to divert many movie-watchers. Competing with the adjacently released movies, Prabhu Deva’s new film succeeded in earning an expected box office collection in initial two days.

In morning shows, the theatre occupancy was reported to be 15%. It did not remain consistent in the noon and evening shows. In night shows, the public response suddenly hiked and took the film’s performance to the next level. Facing a good increase in the occupancy, the Tamil offering amassed Rs 0.60 crore on 2nd day of its release.

The movie could not continue to perform well on following day. Witnessing stagnant theatre occupancy on 3rd day of release, Thangar Bachan’s directorial venture garnered Rs 0.5 crore income on day 3 and grossed Rs 1.5 crore overall box office collection in 3 days.

After earning a single digit box office amount in opening weekend, the romantic movie faced consistent decline in the public response in week days. Failing to meet the filmmakers’ expectations, the Tamil film did not witness any growth in the theatre occupancy and raked in poor earnings by the end of first week.

The movie completed one week at Andhra Box Office and disappointed the audiences with its poor performance in 2nd week. Failing to impress the movie-watchers, the multi-starrer Tamil film did not gain satisfactory response in second week and collected very less income at Indian box office.

Apart from showcasing dull performance in the domestic market, ‘Kalavaadiya Pozhuthugal’ did not gain massive response from audiences in overseas. The romantic movie faced severe box office competition with the latest American and English films in the foreign countries and earned low box office collection in the international market.
