Based on the story of a struggling mother, recently released Malayalam movie ‘Udaharanam Sujatha’ collected average income in opening weekend. Commencing the box office journey to a moderate occupancy, the drama celluloid witnessed slight surge in the public response on Saturday and Sunday. Two consecutive holidays helped the film in getting a satisfactory response from the audiences.
Featuring Manju Warrier, Mamta Mohandas, Joju George and Nedumudi Venu in prominent roles, the Malayalam offering started its journey on a decent note. Directed by renowned filmmaker Phantom Praveen, the movie released on 70 screens in Kerala state and grossed poor business on opening day. Second day also was too unfortunate for the cinema as it gained poor response from the audiences on that day.
After the movie released on 28th September this year, response from the film-watchers varied in the initial four days. In first two days, the theatre occupancy was reported to be quite low as new south Indian film ‘Spyder’ acquired a strong hold in the cinema halls and multiplexes across the regions situated in southern part of India. However, the movie received positive feedback and reviews from the critics.
On Saturday and Sunday, the movie witnessed a drastic growth in its overall business. The celluloid faced a little impact of the final ODI played between India and Australia on 1st October. A major chunk of spectators were averted to the live cricket match which was played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur. However, the Malayalam movie is expected to receive steady response in the second week.
