Ponniyin Selvan 2 (PS 2), directed by Mani Ratnam, is the latest Indian Tamil-language epic historical action adventure film, which will be released on April 28, 2023. Mani Ratnam, Elango Kumaravel, and B. Jeyamohan co-wrote the screenplay, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan. Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah produced the film through Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.

The film’s star-studded cast features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini, Trisha Krishnan as Kundavai, and Vikram as Aditha Karikalan. The film is a large-scale production that includes action, thrills, suspense, comedy, love, and a hint of romance.

Karthi and Jayam Ravi drown in the water at the end of Ponniyin Selvan Part One, i.e., PS 1. So, at the start of the film PS 2, the audience learns whether they perished or not. The visuals in the film are breathtaking, with incredible colour grading and VFX. The movie’s BGM (Background Music) is also amazing. When it comes to action, Karthi is unrivalled. Vikram’s involvement in PS 1 was minor, but he has a full-fledged role in this portion.

The movie’s combat sequence is average, but it doesn’t give you chills during the fight. However, the film is worth seeing in its whole, and it is superior to Part One. If you’ve seen PS 1, you should see PS 2. The film runs for 2 hours and 47 minutes.
